You Can't Make Old Friends

Dolly Parton has sung a song with Kenny Rogers titled You Can't Make Old Friends and it rings so true. You can only make new friends and they may eventually become old friends but your old friends are the ones that know who you are and what matters to you. My friend Candice and I first met in my first year of high school. I was a little skinny shy boy in music class and she and I began to share our likes in music with each other. Through several days we became great friends and we just knew that we were old soul brother and sister. She and I were enough different and yet had so many similarities. She was musically talented and we enjoyed getting together and recording her songs using my old karaoke machine. Some of my favorite memories are of us sitting in her room hoping everyone in the house wouldn't stomp on the floor and mess up the recording! How in the world did we get through that nearly 10 minute song "As Time Goes On". A true friend; an old friend will forever be there for you and no matter the distance nor the time once you get back into each others' company it is like no time has passed! If you have an old friend cherish them and love them and never desert them or make them feel that their time isn't valuable.
